Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our TEFL courses
Accreditation & Recognition
Accredited by:
U.S. Department of Education Recognized Agency
DEAC
Distance Education Accrediting Commission (USA). A U.S. institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA. It also runs AQC (Approved Quality Curriculum)—a peer-review review of individual courses/curricula; AQC is not full accreditation. For TEFL shoppers: DEAC/AQC is a general quality mark, separate from UK Ofqual Level 5 awarding
SQA
Scottish Qualifications Authority (Scotland). Scotland's national awarding and accreditation body. It develops/awards qualifications and accredits awarding bodies in Scotland (separate from Ofqual in England). If a TEFL course references SQA, it usually means SQA accreditation/approval in the Scottish system, which is distinct from Ofqual's RQF Level 5.
Recommended for Credit by:
ACE Courses
College Credit Recommendation Service
BAC
British Accreditation Council (UK). An independent, inspection-based institutional accreditation body for private/independent providers (FE/HE/training). It's not an Ofqual awarding body; think of it as a quality assurance seal for the provider.
CHEA
Council for Higher Education Accreditation - recognizes accrediting organizations in the United States.
Courses Recognized by:
Aqueduto
Association for Quality Education and Training Online
ODLQC
Open & Distance Learning Quality Council (UK). A UK charity that sets quality standards for open/distance-learning providers and accredits them against those standards (again, provider/course quality—not an Ofqual awarding body).
Courses mapped to UK Level 1–5 learning outcomes and recognized internationally. We are an approved centre with Ofqual-recognised awarding organisations. CELTA is a separate Cambridge qualification.
